Attend Classes

Always attend your classes. Attendance in class enhances the chance you'll get a passing grade in a course. In addition to attending class, it is important to brush up on your note-taking skills to really achieve optimum success. Some general recommendations for improving note-taking skills are to:
  1. Read all textbook material relevant to the topic being covered prior to attending class.
  2. Make sure you take notes in class. If you fail to take notes, much of what you learn from the lecture will be forgotten in a few days. If you have something written down on paper, you can always refer to the material later.
  3. Ask professors who lecture too fast if you can tape record their lecture. You'll generally find that many professors are willing to assist you in your efforts to gain as much from their lecture as possible.

    By attending class and utilizing the note-taking techniques just described, your chances for success in college will increase significantly.

What is a Study Group My definition of a study group is a collection of disciplined school peers that regularly meet to discuss and work on common topics enriching the knowledge and skill set of each member i.e. create better grades. Form a Study Group Forming a study group isn't hard. Making it work, is. The first steps in forming a study group is to pick your members, approach them, get their consent, choose a meeting place and time and then assign positions. For a study group to work their has to be a governance system and division of labor. You need a leader, timer, general members, and sometimes a treasurer. What's the best way to revise?

There’s no ‘right’ way to revise, it’s largely a matter of what suits you best and the particular exam you’re taking (multiple choice answers, calculations, short-answer questions, or essays). Methods might include making notes from text books, writing quick summaries of topics (in the form of mind map s or spidergrams perhaps), reciting facts out loud, learning dates, formulae or vocabulary by heart, and reading revision books or watching revision programmes. Switching between methods helps you hold your interest and absorb information better. Mix dull subjects with more interesting ones, for the same reason.
